He Bends Down

   “I love the Lord because he hears my prayers and answers them. Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I breathe!”

Psalm 116:1-2 TLB

    Sixty-one years have passed since I finished first grade. I still remember how my teacher made me feel. She was loving, creative, and thoughtful . . . the kind of teacher every child dreams of having. When her students spoke to her, she bent down to their eye level and listened to every word, no matter how trivial they might have been. Her warm smile let me know that I mattered and that she wanted the best for me. Needless to say, I fell in love with my first grade teacher.

    When you and I face challenges, it’s easy to view God as a stern teacher. Maybe you imagine Him standing tall in the lofty sky, laughing at your problems or punishing you when you make a mistake.

    But here’s the wonderful truth about God. Just as my first grade teacher met me at my eye level, your loving Savior “bends down to listen” to you. He’s not too far away to hear your prayer for mercy. Keep coming to Him and pray as long as you have breath. He’ll never tire of bending down to listen to your every need. In fact, why not fall in love with Him all over again today!?
