Can You Be "Spiritual But Not Religious?"
“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!"
Isaiah 30:18 NIV
When life and hope crumbles, when happily ever after becomes happy never after, you could blame God. If God loved you, or if God was really good, bad stuff wouldn't happen. Then abandonment issues gear up and loneliness nibbles at your soul. Assuming the worst of God won't help, my friend, and nor is it accurate. "Yet," Isaiah said.
In the midst of all your awful, hear God's heart in hardship. God's actions are based on God's character, and the Lord longs, earnestly wants, to show you grace.
Why not start here. Write down the crumblings in your life. Pen and paper. Remember those? The act of physical writing externalizes the words and their weight. Speak God's words over you and your list: "I long to be gracious to you. I will rise up . . . powerful, mighty action . . . to show you compassion. I am riling up heaven to love you in your agony." Repeat that aloud until the truth sinks into your soul. You are loved. God is with you, rising up with grace and compassion.
Dear God, take my friend's list. Help him or her receive Your grace and Your compassion, right now!
